Dermapen 4® is a device used for a procedure known as ‘skin needling’ or ‘collagen induction therapy’.

This treatment targets textural changes associated with skin aging and scarring.

Dermapen 4® works by creating tiny puncture wounds into the skin to stimulate skin repair and cell regeneration.

When the body sustains an injury or wound it heals itself creating new collagen.

How many treatments will I need and how often?

Your clinician will discuss the approximate number and frequency of treatments you may need in your initial complimentary consultation.

In order to get a satisfactory result we find that patients need more than one treatment.

The number of treatments you require will depend on your reason for treatment, amount of collagen in your skin and any bad habits which may negatively effect the amount of collagen such as smoking, an unhealthy diet and sun exposure.

Each treatment will generally take place 4-6 weeks apart depending on your response to treatment and condition being treated. As a general guide, a series of 4-6 treatments is recommended.

 

What level of discomfort is expected with this treatment?

DermaPen® is a quick treatment, therefore if minor discomfort is experienced (prickling sensation), it is for a minimal time frame.

Furthermore, the doctor or dermal clinician performing the procedure can adjust the treatment settings based on your tolerance.

To aid treatment efficiency and your tolerance, the face or other area being treated is worked on section-by-section in a systematic manner, while the operator talks you through the process, responds to feedback and assesses the skin’s reaction.
